Hit me baby one more time..

If I was taller I could be a model. If I was shorter I could be a dwarf.

Anyone for some washing?

Chilling out in a washing machine. There was no reason for us to sit in them, other than it was funny.

This is my fave.

"I think about you all the time. Except for when I think about cake. mmmm, cake."

Today was no where near as warm as it looks in this photo, which was a pure fluke between my "meeting the mentors" and working in the sewing workshop. I woke up stupidly early to write an essay and ended up sorting out the loops on this dress instead for an hour! Then it was too late to do any proper work so I obsessed over a boy for a bit and then headed out to meet the fourth year FDI students- their work is amazing and I am so excited to work with them, it was so awful having to pick out just three who I wanted to work with. Later I have some fun photo-taking plans with Joanne. Can't wait.

I'm wearing my flapper dress from H&M, a red jumper from River Island, super-super long leggings from New Look, and my BOOTS from Superdry and my beautiful Drift leather bag.

"Whose baby is that?" "I don't know, check the collar"

Today I wore my first pair of stretchy trousers! I got myself out of bed at a time that would be considered reasonable even by someone who isn't a student and headed down for some YOGA. It felt very "Eat, Pray, Love", though I was a little disappointed not to reach spiritual enlightenment. I blame this entirely on being able to hear the music from the gym next door- rather than the Indian-ashram-running-water vibe that one generally expects from yoga, I did my "salutations to the sun" to the Pussycat Doll's "Beep", and relaxed at the end to the Hoosier's "Goodbye Mr A".
Despite not reaching a state of karmic equilibrium, I had a fairly productive day, which included these shirt illustrations which I've been looking at for far too long today, and thought I would share with all my ardent fans. (Hi A.J)

Home is the place no matter what you've done they have to let you back in

[16:46:56] Laura Precious: home?
[16:47:08] Ailsa Lindsay: that place where my mum lives
[16:47:17] Laura Precious: cheers for that

This is the conversation I had with Laura about why I haven't been blogging, something several people have complained about which is LOVELY. (not that they were complaining, but that they noticed)

Unfortunately, I didn't get the photos I wanted while I was home, I consoled myself with the whole first season of Grey's Anatomy. Which is the best thing ever.

As you can see in today's outfit post...I have a flag.

Autumnal

I got mail! I've been playing sale-chicken with this jumper (where you wait and wait hoping it goes in the sale rather than selling out). One of the nicest things (other than getting beautiful clothing) about buying from Anthropologie is that it always comes in the most beautiful packages.

It is VERY red....it's slightly more orange than I thought it would be, and that doesn't usually suit me. But there you go, one of the perks of being sheet-white is that you match basically anything.

Lucky legs

Another beautiful birthday present! I am so lucky. Which is appropriate in these "black jack" tights from Jonathan Aston. I took the photo as soon as I put them on because I am not to be trusted with things that rip easily. Another item to add to my "Alice in Wonderland" vibe clothing.

I wore a dress, you wore a dark grey t-shirt

Feeling a Talyor-Swift-ish vibe today, otherwise known as "dorky cowgirl". I do love this underskirt, it makes every outfit really toasty.

I joined the gym today, because peer pressure totally works on me. It means I might have to buy...sweats. (it's not as bad when you write it really really small)

What's Red and White and Red and White?

The style rookie is in the middle of explaining her FALL VIBES right now. Unfortunately, I am too whimsical to explain everything I am feeling about fall now, because I change my mind all the time. So here are SOME THINGS I THOUGHT ALOT ABOUT TODAY...
These are some images off Style.com of Alexis Mabille's fall 2011 couture. The whole show was themed around animals and that really appeals to me because of my fairy tale obsession right now...fairy tale princesses are always being dressed by birds or wearing dresses made out of the moon or are secretly animals. The left is a fox and the right is a WOLF (see the fangs down her arms? jazzy)
WOLVES made me think of the new Red Riding Hood film. So I watched it.
I would have so much fun if I owned a red cape. Maybe not for that long. But it's so dramatic having the red and white. It made me think of a joint project with Laura Precious (Laura, you better post something now)
AND it also made me think of this photo shoot, starring the lovely Laura.
I have this up on my wall. It scares me a little bit.

One more thing...
This made me laugh. It also reminded me of a family friend who is a serious lawyer, and he told someone who works for him, in a moment of whimsy (and talking about twitter) "you need to follow me" "where are you going?" "NO IDEA". This made me laugh. Its not as funny written. Put some crazy eyes at the end.
But seriously, I want you to follow me.
(but not literally, I am talking about blogger)

Appropriate presents for a nineteen-year old girl

These are some beautiful birthday cards that my mum and baby sister made. There were two more, but we had to give them to people. You know, because it was their birthday.

And here is the beautiful cushion they made for me to take back to university with me! His stage name is Hector and his real name is secret. He has little flappy feet, and he is made out of the same bits of fabric as my beautiful quilt. They are awesome. Who says grown-ups can't have teddys? He's not a teddy anyway...he's a THROW CUSHION.

Raindrops keep falling on my head...

BUT NOT WITH THIS POUND-LAND BROLLY
This little beauty saved my hair today. I love that it matches my lipstick and jumper. Its seriously fragile, I'm not convinced that it will survive the winter, or was even keeping me very dry. But, it was only a pound! So bargain!

It's so fluffy...

I bought this jumper just after I saw "Despicable Me" for the first time, so every time I wear it I always think of Agnes.

This is the best line ever.

E.clec.tic

adj.
1. Selecting or employing individual elements from a variety of sources, systems, or styles
2. Made up of or combining elements from a variety of sources
3. Making decisions on the basis of what seems best instead of following some single doctrine or style

Today, I'm a pirate, flapper and cowboy.

Someday I shall explain how I got my hands on a genuine Navy captain's jacket. Or maybe I won't...leave a little mystery.

PURPLE lipstick

mmm...lipstick colours

Tried out some new colours today... I love the purple but I would never wear it regularly. Had a deep conversation about lipstick coverage with a man. Got to love Galashiels!

Black Lipstick

Today I put on some Taylor Swift and some black lipstick and sang along. There's something so dramatic about black lipstick, and singing along like the opening scene of Rocky Horror.

Being a teenager is so cool. I can't believe I only have one year left!

No blue Monday in your Sunday clothes

Well if you won't wear a flapper dress and cowboy boots to your monday morning lectures, where WILL you wear them I ask?

They make me HAPPY
The other day in my sewing workshop I told Meg that I wished I had a more EXTREME look. She laughed at me.

Mo-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-oves like Jagger

As you can see, I got them moves like Jagger.

Scotland is so beautiful. I love the clouds.

The go-to slept-in outfit

Turns out - and here's an interesting experiment - this is what I wear when I wake up with only 5 minutes to get dressed.

Try this at home, and see what you end up in! (skirt & cami top, Anthropologie; Jumper, River Island)
